01. Shaolin Kung Fu

Our traditional Shaolin Kung Fu class focuses on techniques and principles from the five-animal system, including Tiger, Crane, Leopard, Snake, and Dragon. Students will learn and implement the various functions—hard, soft, and fluid—from each animal form. The Shaolin Kung Fu class offers a challenging and dynamic workout that empowers and energizes you.

Our private lessons offer a more personalized experience in classes of three or fewer students. They are available for all ages, even those six and younger, and provide opportunities to learn about Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and traditional and modern weapons.

Shaolin Kung Fu is a traditional martial art anciently developed at the Shaolin Temple. Known for its emphasis on balance, speed, and power, Shaolin kung fu features powerful strikes, kicks, grappling, traditional combinations, sweeping, throwing, forms, joint locking, pressure point techniques, healing, and chi (qi) development and use. Shaolin translates to Little Pine Forest, a description of the location of the Shaolin Temple. The philosophy of Shaolin kung fu includes discipline, respect, humility, and compassion. Shaolin Kung Fu originated in the Shaolin Temple over 1500 years ago. Monks developed it as a form of self-defense and physical exercise. Over time, it evolved into a comprehensive system of combat techniques, including strikes, kicks, joint locks, grappling, throws, and more.

The Shaolin Temple became renowned for its martial arts prowess, and Shaolin kung fu spread throughout China and eventually across the world, influencing many other martial arts styles.

Prices will vary depending on what your desires and needs are. We care deeply about delivering the best possible value for your dollar. We understand that each student has individual needs, and we do our best to accommodate them. Shaolin Arts is not the least or most expensive, but we strive to be the best—and we know you’ll get your money’s worth.

Each of our instructors must be well-trained in the Arts and in teaching those Arts. They must complete our instructors’ college, serve in an apprentice program, and pass background security checks. They must certify under the international PAI association and continue to certify in all these areas as long as they wish to represent Shaolin Arts in any professional capacity.

It can take just a moment of correct instruction to realize the potential the Arts can give us. Real change does take time. Usually, the first difference happens by 3 months, then 6 months, etc.

Some students will have set goals, which can be reached in a set time period, and then they will come in occasionally for a review or refresher. Others discover a lifetime of material leading to growth, adventure, and fun. Shaolin Arts strives to make each class worthwhile. All of us have found remaining active in the Arts improves our quality of life, our very whole being. Staying active makes everything else we do better.
